Pix By Julie

Birthday girl!

Posted by: pixbyjulie on: January 27, 2012

I had to bribe her with a cookie to get cooperation, but I think the results were worth it.  This is my almost-four-year-old (two more days!), with thanks to her older sister who assisted.  This is also the first time I’d experimented with using more than one flash at once.  I definitely need to practice more to get the technique down of balancing two lights, but I was pretty happy with this start.

As the dust settles…

If you’ve been to Pix By Julie before, you might have noticed I’ve been remodeling a bit.  The biggest change is in how sessions will work now.  Instead of having me choose the best portraits for you, I’ll be giving you access to proofs from your session so that you can choose your own.  (Check out the “portrait sessions” tab for more info.)  Of course, a change like that meant re-thinking lots of details… but doesn’t any remodeling project always grow to be more involved than you expected when you started? :)   I’m not quite done yet–I still have to do some redecorating, especially in updating photos in my gallery to more recent ones.  Those changes will come soon.  But hopefully, for now, most of the work is done and the results make sense.  If not… by all means, let me know, and I’ll try to fix it!

A few more fall photos…

Twins!

Posted by: pixbyjulie on: November 26, 2011

Here are a couple of cute little guys I got to photograph as babies last year.  It was fun to see how much they’ve grown and to ‘shoot’ them again, even if they weren’t in much of a smiley mood that day!

The “H” family

Posted by: pixbyjulie on: November 17, 2011

It’s fun, but an extra challenge, to shoot larger group families.  Near the end of October, I had the chance to photograph three generations of this lovely family.  Here are just a few of the many many photos we took that day.

Four months and very TWO

Posted by: pixbyjulie on: November 15, 2011

I had fun shooting these sweet girls in my home recently.  The little one is four months old; her older sister is two (and she was especially two-ish on the day we took these!).  She finally sat still when we gave her a book.  Oh, well, I’m sure the challenge is good for me! :D

Old friends, new clients

It’s such fun to “shoot” friends for the first time!  We had a beautiful October afternoon together at the park.  Here are a few of the resulting photos.

More fall family photos…

This was another fun family session in mid-October.  So thankful for clients who return year after year! :)

And one out-take… you know your photo shoot is done when the littlest member of the family drenches himself at the water’s edge! :)

It’s always a pleasure…

…to have repeat clients!  It’s fun to see how the kids have grown, how the family has changed–and it’s a great compliment to be asked to shoot for someone a second time.  I love knowing that people are happy enough with what I do to ask me back! :D

Here’s a family I shot for last fall as well.  We had a good time on a gorgeous October afternoon at Como Park.  It couldn’t have been a prettier fall day!  (Click on thumbnails to enlarge.)

Not quite school pix…

Here are a few shots I took for a friend, who just wanted a mini-session to get school-type photos.
